About Ron & Gayle Halstead

We discovered the Murphy area while visiting with friends 20 years ago. We were so charmed by the people and awed by the beauty of the countryside that we decided to stay. We bought a home that weekend and moved within the month! Shortly after that, we began our careers with Appalachian Land Company, the best real estate company in the area. We have worked with ALC for 19 years. Our co-workers are like family to us!

Ron is a veteran of the Navy, having served on the George Washington Carver Nuclear Ballistic Missile Submarine. Following his service, he entered the world of telecommunications with his Engineering Degree from Syracuse University. He worked on many projects for GTE Government Services and Verizon. One of the many projects was the first Airphone providing communication from airplanes. Ron has an eye for detail and is extremely friendly and outgoing. Although not a native of Murphy, he knows Cherokee, Clay, Union, and Towns Counties inside and out.

Gayle is also well-versed in telecommunications, having worked for GTE and Verizon. Gayle’s background is in Customer Service and Project Management, and she looks forward to welcoming you to these lovely mountains.
